Building for Bridgend County Borough’s future
Thank you for your interest in these vital leadership roles here at Bridgend County Borough Council
Welcome
Welcome to Bridgend County Borough Council. We are delighted that you are considering joining our team at this exciting time of transformation and growth. I joined the authority in July 2025 and I’m excited that we have been able to create these new posts as part of our corporate change programme. In this programme we will be investing corporately to accelerate our change programme through three key enablers – performance, workforce and digital change.
Bridgend County Borough covers around 100 square miles with a population of 145,000. We have a diverse geography, with beautiful valleys in the north and 12.5 miles of coastline and beaches to the south. The M4 runs right through the centre of the county borough, and we have main-line rail links to Cardiff, London and Swansea. The county is growing with a new regional data centre in development and development of industry and life sciences in South Wales. Whilst we have some challenges in the North of the county and a need to invest in our valleys, you will join a county where the population and economy is growing. Substantial regeneration projects are underway with Porthcawl at the forefront as the largest Coastal regeneration programme in Wales. Core services in areas such as social services and education are very strong with many of these services judged to be outstanding., Our finances are relatively strong and provide a sound base for us to look forward with confidence.
It is a welcoming authority that is keen to move forward at pace. We have a council and cabinet that is highly ambitious and has created these new posts to provide capacity across the authority to enable us to deliver transformation and change. Joining us at this time will enable you to be part of a team at the start of an exciting programme of change that is being developed as part a new transformation strategy that will set out a vision for Bridgend in 2040, The posts will focus on four key enablers of change – workforce, technology, programme and project management and performance
Our Delivering Together – Corporate Plan 2023–28 sets out our ambitious vision for the future, ensuring that we deliver high-quality, integrated services that empower individuals and communities. To be part of our team you will need to be passionate, resilient, committed and creative. In return you will be given the freedom to help shape the future of our workforce and council, driving improvements and efficiencies to ensure our resources support our people and places.
On this site you will find further information about Bridgend County Borough, the council, and details about these two key roles – Head of Performance and Workforce Cultural Change and Head of Transformation and Digital.
We have huge ambitions for our organisation, partnerships, our people and communities, and we want you to play a part in this.
A strong collaborator and innovator, you will inspire and influence colleagues and partners across both Bridgend County Borough and south Wales and continue to find innovative ways to change lives and improve outcomes for our residents, communities and businesses.
If you feel that you have the skills and the track record required and can combine this with a real sense of ambition for our communities, the council and the county borough at this exciting time, we would love to hear from you.
Best wishes,

Jake Morgan
